Our After-School Program

This program is tailored to address the specific needs of teens requiring more intensive after-school mental health support while still attending school. Calusa’s intensive outpatient after-school program offers a diverse array of therapy options, including in-person counseling, group therapy, and in-home family therapy. All services are available after school and can be easily scheduled. Our team of highly skilled therapists and behavioral health professionals collaborates with teens to tackle their mental health challenges, cultivate coping strategies, and foster resilience, ensuring they receive the necessary support without compromising their academic success.

Every teen’s mental wellness journey is different. That’s why we create personalized treatment plans based on each teen’s unique needs. Our highly trained clinicians conduct in-depth assessments to pinpoint areas of need and develop a personalized treatment approach that effectively addresses those issues. Our Intensive outpatient program After School combines evidence-based therapy with personalized interventions to help teens overcome obstacles and develop the skills they need to maintain their mental health and well-being in the long run.

We believe that providing teens with effective coping strategies and resilience-building skills is essential for their long-term mental well-being. Our Intensive Outpatient program After School offers a wide range of therapeutic methods and workshops designed to help teens develop these important skills. From stress-management strategies to mindfulness-based practices, our program gives teens valuable tools they can use in their day-to-day lives. By building resilience and developing healthy coping strategies, we empower teens to confront life’s obstacles with strength and confidence.

Common Mental Health Conditions For Teens

A significant number of teens struggle with anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety disorder (SAD), and panic disorder. Factors like academic stress, peer pressure, and hormonal changes can all contribute to heightened anxiety levels. It’s vital to discuss anxiety openly, reduce the stigma surrounding it, and provide effective tools for managing anxiety.

Another prevalent mental health issue among teenagers is depression. Signs of depression in adolescents can include ongoing sadness, a lack of interest in school or activities, irritability, changes in appetite, and trouble concentrating. Identifying and addressing these issues early, along with providing support, can significantly improve the lives of young people.

Eating disorders, such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder, are particularly common among teens, especially girls. These disorders can stem from various factors, including pressure related to body image, societal expectations, and distorted self-perception. It’s crucial to foster a positive body image, educate teens about healthy eating, tackle self-esteem challenges, and work towards preventing and treating eating disorders.

Many teens turn to substance abuse as a way to cope with underlying mental health issues or peer pressure. Substance abuse encompasses the use of drugs and alcohol, including substances like tobacco, marijuana, prescription medications, and other illegal drugs. Raising awareness about the risks and consequences of substance use, promoting open dialogue, and improving access to treatment and rehabilitation can help mitigate the risk of substance abuse among adolescents.

Self-harm, which can involve cutting, burning, or other forms of self-injury, is a prevalent issue linked to mental health struggles in teens. Those experiencing severe mental health challenges may resort to self-harm as a coping mechanism. Additionally, suicide remains one of the leading causes of death among teenagers, with rates on the rise. To combat this, it’s essential to increase awareness, reduce the stigma surrounding suicide, and ensure that mental health professionals are readily available.

Why Our Teen Programs Are Essential For Mental Health

Among the toughest periods in the life of a young person is adolescence. While it occurs, children undergo a number of tests that could deeply affect their mental health and welfare. Teen Program is a safe haven for teens where they can address their problems, acquire coping mechanisms, and build emotional strength. Our high-skilled and veteran mental therapists will direct teenagers towards self-realization, self-improvement, and lasting psychological well-being all through their lives.

Our Teen Program provides one-on-one and group therapy to meet the specific needs of teens. Whether it’s individual counselling, group therapy, or a combination of the two, each teen receives individualized attention. We treat a variety of mental health issues, from anxiety and depression to self-esteem, stress, and more. The goal of our Teen Program is to provide teens with the tools and skills they need to navigate life’s challenges while building a strong mental health foundation.

We understand that traditional methods may not work for teens. That’s why our unique approach to providing youth mental health services is at the heart of our Youth Program. From interactive workshops and creative expression activities to skill building exercises and more, our Teen Program provides a space for teens to explore their emotions, thoughts and dreams. By combining evidence-based strategies with innovative approaches, we help teens gain a better understanding of themselves and discover healthy ways to improve their mental health.

Not only does our Teen Program offer personalized support, but we also believe that peer support is essential for teens’ mental well-being. Through group therapy, support groups and peer-to-peer peer support, teens have the opportunity to connect with others who share their struggles and successes. Establishing long-term relationships within our program builds a sense of community and strengthens teens’ support networks beyond their time in our program. 866-525-8725

I’ve been in recovery for over a year now and have met a lot of people along the way. Stuart and Wilbur are genuine about wanting to help someone struggling with alcohol or drugs. Me being one of them. I’ve seen a few sober houses along the way and Calusa recovery is by far the best sober living I’ve come across. They show you how to have fun in recovery and live life sober.
